Description
A US Peace silver dollar dated 1928, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. The coin is composed of 90 percent silver. The obverse features the Peace silver dollar design with the characters L I B E R T Y, IN GOD WE TRVST, and the date 1 9 2 8. An incuse monogram consisting of the characters A and F is visible at the truncation of the neck. The reverse features the Peace silver dollar design with the legends UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, ONE DOLLAR, and P E A C E. The 1928 Philadelphia issue is the key date of the series due to its low mintage of 360,649 coins.
Weight: 0.860 troy ounces. The coin exhibits a circulated grade. Noticeable wear is present on the high points of the hair (photo 1) and the eagle plumage (photo 2). The fields and devices show significant surface abrasions, hairline scratches, and contact nicks (photos 1 and 2). Dark toning is present along the peripheries of both the obverse and reverse (photos 1 and 2).
