A US 1897-O Morgan silver dollar struck at the New Orleans Mint. The coin is composed of 90% silver and 10% copper with an actual silver weight of 0.7734 oz. The obverse features the Morgan design and the date 1897. The reverse displays the O mint mark positioned above the denomination (photo 3). The coin is housed in a white cardboard 2x2 flip featuring handwritten blue ink notations reading 1897 O and Morgan - Dollar on the front, and the word Owner on the reverse. Circulated condition with visible wear to the high points of the design, notably Liberty's hair and the eagle's breast feathers (photos 1 and 2). Numerous contact marks and small abrasions are present in the fields and on the portrait (photo 1). Dark peripheral toning and tarnish are visible along the rims of both the obverse and reverse (photos 1, 2, and 3).
