A stoneware decanter modeled as a portrait head crowned with a tall woven headdress, the collar rendered as banded coils and the whole set upon a hexagonal plinth cut with interlaced ornament. The matte glaze in olive and umber gives the piece the look of aged bronze, and it stands with real dignity. Approximately 13 inches tall, the underside impressed with a crowned crest and the words Hand Painted, Made Italy; no distiller mark is legible. Surface soiling and scattered wear.
