Zun vase with flared mouth, thick neck, swelling belly and splayed foot. Symmetrical beast-head handles emerge from shoulders, and several raised bow-string ribs decorate the body. The whole piece is covered with flambe glaze based on langyao red. Thick lustrous glaze is streaked with flowing purple-blue streaks intermingling with crimson red, naturally crackled. Thin glaze at rim reveals white body. Dripped glaze is visible around foot rim, and seal-script mark is incised on base. Flambe glaze is an innovative Jun-ware revival of Qing court porcelain. Extremely difficult to fire, its naturally-formed colors make it a classic imperial display ware.
