This mid-century figural cookie jar is crafted from glazed earthenware in the form of a pelican. The two-piece vessel features a lid composed of the bird's head and a white ruffled collar or bib. The head, beak, and webbed feet are accented with cold-painted colors in shades of blue, green, yellow, and red. The underside of the base features an incised script signature reading McCoy.

The cookie jar is in fair vintage condition. Extensive, heavy crazing is present throughout the glaze of both the lid and the base. Significant flaking and loss of the cold-painted decoration are visible on the head, beak, and feet. A stray red paint mark is located on the back of the body, and the interior bottom shows localized staining and discoloration. No visible chips, cracks, or repairs are noted.
