Description
12 3/8 x 12 3/8 in (31.5 x 31.5 cm)
Provenance and Authentication:
According to the Letter of Authenticity (LOA) and Certificate of Authenticity (COA) provided by the consignor, this collectible was subjected to a forensic examination. The accompanying documentation states that the signatures were evaluated with reference to multiple characteristics, including ink deposition, material and aging characteristics, stylistic consistency, and historical context. Based on the examination described in these documents, the authentication provider concluded that the findings were consistent with the attributed signatures. The LOA and COA provided by the consignor accompany the lot.
A fully signed The Doors 13 LP, bearing the signatures of the classic lineup: Jim Morrison, Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore. The four autographs are individually positioned across the album cover in blue ink, surrounding the distinctive photographic composition dominated by Morrison's large profile portrait.
The accompanying vinyl retains its classic Elektra Records butterfly label, identifying 13, EKS-74079, Stereo. The compilation includes several defining Doors recordings, among them "Light My Fire," "People Are Strange," "Back Door Man," "Moonlight Drive," "The Crystal Ship," and "Roadhouse Blues."
Released in 1970, 13 presented a concentrated survey of the band's early recordings at a pivotal moment in its history. The Doors' fusion of psychedelic rock, blues, jazz-inflected instrumentation, and Morrison's literary approach to songwriting established the group as one of the most distinctive forces in late-1960s American rock.
Complete autograph groupings of the classic lineup possess particular historical interest because Jim Morrison died in 1971, permanently limiting opportunities for items to be signed by all four members. Here, the signatures appear directly on an official Doors LP featuring Morrison as the dominant cover image, creating a particularly strong relationship between the musicians, their autographs, and the musical artifact itself.
A compelling fully signed rock-and-roll collectible with particular appeal to collectors of The Doors, Jim Morrison, psychedelic rock, signed LPs, and 20th-century music history.
