Description
12 1/4 x 12 1/4 in
A signed "E.C. Was Here" LP by Eric Clapton, released in 1975 and bearing Clapton's handwritten signature and the inscription "best wishes" across the upper portion of the front cover.
Recorded from live performances during Clapton's mid-1970s return to touring, E.C. Was Here captures an important period in his solo career and features material including "Have You Ever Loved a Woman," "Presence of the Lord," and "Drifting Blues." The accompanying vinyl bears the distinctive RSO cow label, with catalog number 2394-160, and is marked Made in England.
The autograph is prominently positioned against the comparatively uncluttered upper portion of the celebrated cover design. The handwriting displays the loose and economical construction associated with Clapton's autograph: the first name is executed rapidly, while the surname moves through compressed connected strokes before extending into a long finishing movement. The addition of "best wishes" gives the inscription a more personal character than a simple standalone signature.
The combination of a period British pressing, one of Clapton's principal 1970s live releases, and a prominently placed signed inscription gives the piece strong appeal for collectors of classic rock, blues-rock, and music memorabilia. The cover retains visible age and handling consistent with a period LP, adding to its vintage
