This collection includes a variety of silver and mixed-metal items featuring ornate decorative work. A roast carving set includes a knife and a two-tine fork with handles in a scrolling foliate pattern. The knife handle is impressed with three symbols in separate shields?a lion passant, a crown, and a capital letter "G"?followed by the word "STERLING" (photos 11 and 13). The knife blade is etched "STERLING HANDLE STAINLESS STEEL" (photo 12), and the fork bolster is stamped "SHEFFIELD ENGLAND" (photo 16). The group also includes an extendable handle with a mother-of-pearl central shaft. The shaft is carved with a textured, scalloped pattern and set between gold-toned metal mounts with floral repouss? decoration (photos 7 and 8).
