Description
A polished stone sphere fashioned from a septarian concretion, a geological formation also known as a septarian nodule. The object displays a characteristic septarian pattern comprising angular, dark gray to brown mudstone (micrite) sections. These segments are separated by a complex network of radiating, jagged veins of yellow and translucent white calcite, formed through the mineral filling of shrinkage cracks. The exterior surface is finished with a high-gloss polish that emphasizes the crystalline structure of the mineral veins and the contrast between the dark host rock and light minerals. The piece bears no maker marks, signatures, or country-of-origin stamps. A pink adhesive label bearing the number 392 is present on the surface.Measurements/notes: Ball 5 in. diameter.
