The group includes a hexagonal soapstone box with a pierced floral lattice base and a lid decorated with a floral motif in the pietra dura style, utilizing inlaid semi-precious stone and shell. A similar circular dark stone box also features an inlaid floral lid with colored stone or shell. A square metal box with embossed floral and scrollwork bands on its body is set with a transfer-printed ceramic plaque lid depicting green foliage and a blue accent. The undersides of the stone and porcelain boxes are plain and show surface wear consistent with contact; the metal box shows a yellowish interior consistent with brass or a plated alloy.
