Natural dark brown speckled patina spreads over the whole body, with partial original red skin penetrating into the jade. Fully carved and openwork sculpted as a creeping chilong. The dragon head rises with open mouth in fierce expression, strong limbs and twisting body. Flowing cloud-shaped wing ornaments are carved alongside its body in bold lines, representing the classic “fine hair carving” craft of Han Dynasty. Multiple hollow-out sections create rich layered structure with vivid vitality. Chilong was an auspicious beast in Han culture, believed to ward off evil and bring blessings, worn by nobles. Exquisite carving, thick aged patina and good preservation. It is an outstanding example of Han circular carved jade beast, with remarkable artistic and collecting value.
