Antique Paper Mache Tray Table with Faux Bamboo Base. Table features a removable oval tray, hand-finished in deep black with delicate gilt floral decoration along the raised edge. The tray rests upon a faux bamboo wooden base with an intersecting X-form stretcher. The faux bamboo base reflects the Victorian fascination with Asian inspired design during this period. Designed for entertaining, the removable tray allowed refreshments to be served with ease before returning it to its stand. The raised rim helps secure glasses, tea services, or decorative objects, making it both practical and visually appealing.
In modern interiors, this tray table makes a sophisticated cocktail or drinks table, a tea or coffee table, or a elegant side table. It will blend well with Victorian, English Country, Regency Revival, Chinoiserie, Traditional, Hollywood regency, and Grandmillennial. This is a refined and versatile furnishing that remains as useful today as when it was first created over a century ago.
