Description
Height:10cm(3.94in) Width:13cm(5.12in) Weight:340g(0.750lb)Carved from a large fine block of Hetian white jade, the vessel possesses lustrous, pure and fine texture with faint natural yellowish inclusions and mild aged patina. It features flattened square body with curved belly and a domed lid topped by a round knob. Openwork scrolling ruyi-shaped handles flank both sides of the jar, attached with interlocking jade chains ending in jade lock pendants; the chains are carved integrally, representing formidable craftsmanship. Two reserved panels decorate the body. One panel is shallowly carved with a vigorous dragon amid cloud scrolls with distinct scales and claws, while the other bears a phoenix with spread plumage, embodying the auspicious theme of dragon and phoenix in harmony. The interior is thinly and evenly hollowed. Combining openwork, interlocking chain carving and shallow relief, this masterpiece fully demonstrates the supreme jade craftsmanship of imperial workshops during the Qianlong reign, a top-tier imperial jade of the Qing Dynasty
