1880 LG $5 Legal Tender Note

This is the highest graded large size note in today's auction. And it is from a one year issue of the popular woodchopper series. It should be followed closely.

Part of the large rounded red seal series, these notes are slightly tougher than some of the later Fr. numbers for the series. The piece offered here is in perfect condition, and I am surprised it isn

PMG has only graded 4 notes nicer for this Fr. number. The 66 EPQ grade says more than we can.

This legal tender has all original embossing and gem margins, but the back print has taken on a slight discoloration, as noted by PMG.

It always seems like these notes should be worth more money than what they currently trade for. The example here has some paperclip rust, and no matter what it sells for, it will be a bargain relative
