Specifications:85hp, 221 cu. in. L-head V8 engine, three-speed manual transmission, live axle suspension with transverse leaf springs, four-wheel mechanically-actuated drum brakes. Wheelbase: 112"1934 was the second year for the sleek, long-hood style derived from Bob Gregorie's scaled-up design for the English Ford Model Y. Built on a wheelbase extended six inches to 112 inches, the look of the 1934 Ford is recognized as one of the finest designs of any popularly-priced car in the thirties. Set off by wheels once again reduced in diameter by an inch (in 1933) to 16 inches, the proportions belie the short wheel base and distance between the firewall and grille needed to contain the compact flathead V8.The grille itself is a masterpiece. It is veed and raked back at an angle that complements the windshield's rake, the angle of the back of the hood, the graduated hood side vents and even the front of the door. These elements all contribute to the 1934 Ford's harmonious concept and execution. Skirted front and rear fenders, a first for Ford, concealed most of the frame and added modern flair to the design of the cars.By now the teething problems of Ford's rush to get the V8 into production in time for the 1932 models' introduction were long past, but Ford continued to make steady improvements in the V8; in 1934, these included the Stromberg 40 carburetor and Charlie Sorensen's innovative cast steel crankshaft. Power increased another 10 horsepower to 85hp.The 1934 Ford Deluxe Tudor presented here was a very straight and solid rust free car before it was treated to its complete and thorough restoration. The Tudor was refinished in Coach Maroon, accented by fine red pinstriping that matches the correct Ford red wire wheels. The interior was properly reupholstered with the correct LeBaron Bonney materials. The drivetrain remains original to this Ford and offers all the power and reliability that made the Flathead V8 a legend.Very well equipped, this Deluxe model is appointed with Ford script chrome rimmed headlamps, twin horns, chrome cowl lights, a beautiful chrome grille and bumpers, a rear mounted spare and the iconic greyhound mascot.
