Roman, Imperial period, ca. 2nd to 3rd century CE. Absolutely gorgeous marble head of Jupiter (Zeus), the high god of the Roman pantheon. This is probably a very well done copy of a larger public statue, made for the home or a private setting. The details of his curled hair and beard are particularly fine, as are the lines of his face and especially around his eyes. Size: 4.7" H (11.9 cm)
Provenance: Ex L Farrow Collection, UK
