Lot 0107
Pastel on fine period laid pastel paper, watermarked (probably Ingres), landscape with extensive sky, attributed* to/in the manner of Claude Monet (1840-1926). Signed, extreme lower right. 8 3/4 x 12 1/4 inches. Very good condition. Currently unframed for inspection and post-auction shipping.

Provenance: Abel Lauvray, presumably acquired directly from the artist, who was Lauvray's neighbor. Presumed to have been acquired from the latter by Andre Mavon (Saint-Honore, Paris) and subsequently by the consignor's father, a West Coast collector who was a long time friend and client of Mavon's. Thence by descent to his heirs. A total of four pastels were acquired; this is the fourth and final one to be sold.

[Demonstrable provenance can be an important factor in determining authenticity. Please see our Terms & Conditions of Sale regarding provenance. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us before the auction.]
