French Carved Walnut Bonnetiere, c. 1880, the arched stepped crown with a leaf and scroll crest, above an arched wide beveled door, enclosing a belt of two drawers, on a base with a long drawer, on disc feet, H.- 94 in., W.- 43 in., D.- 23 in.
Condition consistent with age and use. Key present. Left corner of crown detached but present. Topmost sliver of veneer mostly lacking from crown. A 1 inch and ½ inch chip in the veneer on the top right side. Three 1 inch, one ½ inch and one 2 inch chip in the veneer at the center of the crest. A 1 inch chip to the upper right side of the crest. Slightly raised veneer under the crown. A 2 inch chip to the veneer below the keyhole in the door. Moderate wear along the bottom edge. A lovely piece.
