Continental Carved Oak Jacobean Style Buffet a Deux Corps, late 19th c., the stepped ogee crown with lions' heads over double leaded glass doors, flanked by relief leaf and nut carved pilasters on bulbous urn supports flanking a back spindled plate gallery, on a stepped top base with a frieze drawer flanked by lions' heads, over double cupboard doors flanked by like leaf and nut carved pilasters, on a stepped sloping breakfront base, on block feet, H.- 91 1/2 in., W.- 44 in., D.- 21 1/2 in.
Condition consistent with age and use. Two keys present. An approximate 1 ½ inch square piece of carving detached from the lower left but present. A 3 inch crack on the left side of the top. One spindle lacking from the plate rack. Weathering throughout the top of the base. A 3 inch hairline crack on the right side of the top. A ¼ inch chip to the lion on the upper left. Light wear and soiling throughout. A fascinating piece.
