Lot 2155

Details: 5 Pcs. This lot comprises five antique wooden fraternal marble ballot voting boxes of similar styles and period.

Five similarly sized Masonic design voting boxes, consistent with those found in use with fraternal organizations in the late 19th century. As shown in the contained images; each of these handheld ballot boxes is made of solid wood, and a single wooden handle. All feature two compartments separated by a small round opening.

Three of these feature a nearly identical style and design, with open front compartment, and a concealed rear compartment with hinged lid.

Two boxes have a hinged lid covering the front compartment, which folds back to reveal the front compartment.

The wood is finished to a light brown color on each box. Box joint construction, hardware and wood grain varies slightly from one box to another, please inspect at time of live auction to observe subtle variations.

Also included with this lot is: 3 white marble ballots (loose); 27 clay marble ballots in a sealed bag wrapped in tissue paper (1 oatmeal colored, 3 dark colored, 23 white colored).

Each ballot box's overall dimensions are similar and measure approx. 9 1/2" long (without handle) by 6 1/2" wide by 4" high. Handle lengths are approx. 4" to 5", made of turned wood of unique shape, attached to center of rear compartment.
