A pair of exquisitely chased sterling silver candlesticks in the Castle pattern having landscape scenes surrounded by swirling foliate, roses, and birds. With removable candle cups. Stick bodies are apparently cement filled. Underside marked "Sterling / The Loring Andrews Co. / Cincinnati U.S.A. / 121". Approximate height 12"", diameter of base 5.25". Approximate weight 41.8 troy ounces. Provenance: From the Estate of Rita Shanton Granger, daughter of George Shanton, of Atlanta, Georgia. Note: Loring Andrews & Co. was an important silver and jewelry retailer located in Cincinnati, OH who sold flatware and holloware created by such companies as Kirk, Dominick & Haff, Durgin, Schultz & Co., Gorham, and others.
Scratches and typical wear to interior of candle cups. Wear around the nozzle/mouth. Minor pitting to underside of removable cups. No repairs noted. All wear is commensurate with age and usage.
