This Vintage Heisey by Viking Four Horse Head Ashtray- Signed Viking is in EXCELLENT CONDITION! NO chips, or flea bites. Very heavy like most Viking glass. Measures 7" square and 2" deep- enough for cigars or pipe. A little history: This horse head ashtray is shown on page 23 of the 1980-81 Viking Catalog. It has quite a history. Here is a reprint of a copy in Glass Animals by Dick and Pat Spencer, 2004, plate 484 page 171. –“Four horse head ashtray. The foreman of the etching dept. at Heisey remembered etching the ashtray. Believe G. Dalton Miller, mold maker at Heisey created the mold. Heisey produced the ashtray in the 1930’s. Lucile Kennedy, while working at Viking, reported that a man named Johan Gottfried brought the mold to Viking for a special order, Mr. Gottfried reportedly worked at Heisey at one time. The mold remained at Viking until they closed in 1985.” This is a rare find, one that you will not likely see very often. The only difference between the Heisey and the Viking is that the latter is signed on the bottom.Domestic: Flat-rate of $25.00 to anywhere within the contiguous U.S.International: Foreign shipping rates are determined by destination.Location: This item ships from Texas
