A beautiful Egyptian tapering alabaster jar, Ptolemaic, c. 2nd - 1st Century BC, nicely carved in a lovely banded stone, the body tall and tapered to a flattened foot, the neck short with wide rim and two vertical lug handles. The interior well-hollowed the entire length of the vessel. H: 9 3/8 in (23.4 cm). Well-preserved with good surfaces and light deposits. Ex collection of Alexandre Nicolai (1865-1952), France, acquired late 19th - early 20th Century; thence by descent.
