Description
5th-7th century AD. A bifacial bronze cross-arm with pierced lug to the lower edge; to the obverse, a facing bust in three-quarter view within concentric broken circles, pointillé scrolls and legend 'XPICTOY' (Christ); to the reverse, two pointillé guilloche bands with point borders. 37 grams, 88mm (3 3/4"). Property of a European gentleman living in South Africa; acquired since the late 1980s. [No Reserve]
