Description
18th Century Qing Dynasty Chinese, Chinese Tibetan gilt bronze and stones inlaid Buddha Deity figure of Virupa, Yogeshwara, Lord of Yoga.
Seated upon a standing dog. With a body corpulent and thick limbed, his face looks upward with large glaring eyes, the black pupils surrounded by white circles. The left hand is raised to the sky in a wrathful gesture with the index finger pointed in an accusatory manner, Cast with vajra armor, ornate crown, a garland of jewel ornaments and the beautiful heavenly banner draped around the shoulder, and relaxed posture with riding a dog. The stories and iconography one of the Three Guardians arise primarily from the Mahayana sutras and are common to all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. They also viewed as wrathful manifestation of Bodhisattvas, who help the pupiattain supreme insight. They are incarnations of the powers which can bring about a breakthrough in meditation.
The underside with incised quatrefoil flori-form petal visvavajra mark surrounding the centralized DaiJi.

Over all in EXCELLENT condition. With normal anomalies in nature, sign of stressed surface, minor scratch & dents. Surface traced wear and or declined to gilding. Normal, consider ages and wear.
