Description
An exceptional example of superb quality, the iron hilt of characteristic form with paneled, pierced and chiseled terminals and grips, heavily inlaid with gold in intricate patterns overall. The scabbard mounted en suite, with pierced terminals and extensive goldwork overall. The blade forged of fine silver-gray wootz, lightly-curved, double-edged and paneled, with a detailed geometrical cartouche chiseled at the forte on each side, becoming a central ridge and terminating in a substantial armor-piercing tip. Late 17th- early 18th century. Overall length 49 cm, blade 28.9 cm. Condition I
