Some of the highlights include: Mark Rothko, George Braque, Allen Ginsberg, Robert Motherwell, Bernard Langlais, Kim Novak, Jasper Johns, Ad Reinhardt, Frank Stella, Elaine De Kooning, Joan Brown, Tom Wesselman, Harry Bertoia, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and many others. George William Staempfli was curator of paintings at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston from 1954 to 1956. In 1959, he founded his gallery in Manhattan and exhibited the work of a variety of European and American artists, including Salvador Dali, Paul Delvaux, David Park, Elmer Bischoff, Joan Brown and George Rickey.
