Description

World War One, Germany--Fabric from Albatros D.Va (1 pc). A framed piece of original fabric (#17 of 80 pieces) salvaged during the restoration of an Albatros D.Va from the collection of the Smithsonian's National Air and Space Museum. The restoration of this Albatros took 26 months and over 8,000 volunteer hours at the Silver Hill Restoration and Storage Facility before completion in 1980. The aircraft was restored to its original markings of Jasta 46 (No. 7161/17). The fabric piece measures 2 1/4" square and is matted and framed with a large artist's illustration of the restored aircraft. Wooden frame, with glass, measures 16"x21"
