NEW YORK – The Morgan Library & Museum is now presenting Bridget Riley Drawings: From the Artist’s Studio, on view to October 8. British artist Bridget Riley (b. 1931-) is one of the most celebrated abstract painters of her generation. This exhibition — the first dedicated exclusively to her drawings
in more than 50 years — provides an intimate view of Riley’s studio practice, in which the making of works on paper plays a central role.

Gertrude Abercrombie and Bridget Riley triumphed in back-to-back Hindman sales

CHICAGO – Bridget Riley, Gertrude Abercrombie, and Howardena Pindell led Hindman’s Post War & Contemporary Art and Prints & Multiples auctions in April. With several new records set across both sales, there was particularly strong bidding activity for works by post-war women artists. Abstract, minimalist and pop art by masters such as Robert Indiana, Ellsworth Kelly and Roy Lichtenstein also saw passionate bidding.

NEW HAVEN, Conn. — The Yale Center for British Art (YCBA) currently presents Bridget Riley: Perceptual Abstraction, an exhibition that continues through July 24. Born in London in 1931, Riley is among the most important and influential painters in Britain and the world. During the course of her seven-decades-long career, she has enjoyed a continuing dialog with museums, galleries, critics and collectors in the United States. This major survey traces Riley’s oeuvre from the 1960s through the present by featuring more than 50 works that were selected by the artist in collaboration with the YCBA.

GENESEO, NEW YORK – Cottone’s March 27th sale featured slightly more than 200 lots and brought in $1.6 million. The fresh to the market collections from the estates of Dr. Seymour Ira Schwartz of Rochester, New York; and Dr. Eugene L.
