CHICAGO – An Art Deco pendant by Cartier led Hindman’s May 16 Important Jewelry auction, realizing $100,800 against an estimate of $10,000-$20,000. The pendant was among a collection of Cartier jewelry, curated from estates across the country, which achieved strong results. Overall, the sale realized $3,689,973, with 67% of lots selling within the estimate or above the high estimate.

DENVER – Western artists ranging from historic painters such as Albert Bierstadt, William R. Leigh and Leon Shulman Gaspard to contemporary names such as Ed Mell, Jeremy Lipking and John Nieto achieved outstanding prices during Hindman’s May 4 Western & Contemporary Native American Art auction. Contemporary Native American artists were also among top performers, led once again by an iconic Fritz Scholder work, Indian at the Bar. Paintings by Native American artists such as Jaune Quick-to-See-Smith and Kay WalkingStick were also among the highlights. With a lively room of bidders and strong competition from the phones and online platforms, the auction ultimately realized more than $2 million, with 94 percent of lots sold.

CHICAGO – A suite of Greta Grossman furniture will highlight Hindman’s Modern Design auction on Wednesday, May 24. Comprising more than 230 lots, significant works by other trailblazing women designers such as Ruth Duckworth and Toots Zynsky will also be presented. The sale will also include pieces by celebrated names such as Dale Chihuly, Hans J. CHICAGO – A pair of Fern Coppedge winter scenes will anchor a strong group of American landscapes in Hindman’s Friday, May 19 American Art auction. The sale will provide a look at how a range of celebrated artists approached the genre. PALM BEACH – Hindman announces that Elizabeth Marshman has joined the firm as director of trusts, estates and private clients in its Palm Beach sale room. In partnership with Managing Director of Trusts, Estates & Private Clients Molly Gron, Marshman will work to develop business both in Palm Beach County and the northern reaches of Florida. She will also collaborate with Hindman’s recently launched New York office, led by Gemma Sudlow, as well as its 15 additional locations throughout the country.

CHICAGO – Bridget Riley, Gertrude Abercrombie, and Howardena Pindell led Hindman’s Post War & Contemporary Art and Prints & Multiples auctions in April. With several new records set across both sales, there was particularly strong bidding activity for works by post-war women artists. Abstract, minimalist and pop art by masters such as Robert Indiana, Ellsworth Kelly and Roy Lichtenstein also saw passionate bidding.
