Based on the new understanding of Dutch artists as well as the taste of the bourgeoisie as new customers, the paintings of the so-called Dutch School are to be understood as depictions and descriptions of the visible world, with their own sense and particularly sharpened eye for the undramatic and everyday. The landscape scene, captivating in its simplicity, shows us a gently meandering riverbank embedded in a wooded landscape. The left side of the picture is lined with a small waterfall. The "Imitatio Naturae" - the faithful imitation of nature - became one of the highest principles of landscape painting and can be seen in our work, for example, in the richly detailed trees.
