Mediterrane Küstenszene von großer Naturwahrheit mit panoramaartigem Blickwinkel.Italien war ein Sehnsuchtsort zahlreicher Dichter wie Künstler im 19. Jhd. Ausgehend von der tiefen Sehnsucht für das Land der Antike und Arkadien, bereisten etliche Maler wie Albert Flamm verlassene Dörfer, zerklüftete Küstenlandschaften und Orte wie die Campagna Romana. Unsere Szene zeigt die Küsten Sorrents, einer Gegend südlich des Golfes von Neapel im Südwesten Italiens. Flamm bereiste Italien erstmals 1845 zusammen mit Oswald Achenbach, damals eine Region mit der höchsten Anziehungskraft in Oberitalien. 1850 brachen sie zu der zweiten gemeinsamen Reise nach Italien auf, diesmal bereisten sie Rom, Neapel und Sizilien sowie die Umgebungen. Flamm dehnte seine Reise von 1850-1853 aus, sodass womöglich in dieser Zeit unsere Ölstudie entstand. Essentielles Gestaltungsmittel seiner Kompositionen waren das Licht, meist in warmen Tönen gehalten durch Sonnenschein. Landschaften wurden hierbei sein bevorzugtes Bildthema. Im Fokus unserer Szene steht der Küstenabschnitt, bestimmt durch eine von Trockenheit und Hitze gezeichneten Vegetation. Spitzen von Dächern und Türmen zeichnen die Umrisse eines kleinen Dorfes, nicht weit entfernt vom Mittelmeer. Zahlreiche Studien fertigte Flamm in jener schaffensreichen Zeit an, sie alle eint die einfühlsame Auseinandersetzung mit der italienischen Landschaft, die von Verbundenheit für das Land und seine Kultur zeugen und seinen Ruf als "Italienmaler" unter Beweis stellen.Oil on wood panel. Mediterranean coastal scene of great natural truth with panoramic view. - Italy was a place of longing for many poets and artists in the 19th century. Based on a deep yearning for the land of antiquity and Arcadia, a number of painters, including Albert Flamm, travelled to deserted villages, rugged coastal landscapes and places such as the Campagna Romana. Our scene shows the coasts of Sorrento, an area south of the Gulf of Naples in south-western Italy. Flamm first travelled to Italy in 1845 together with Oswald Achenbach, at that time a region which was most longed for in northern Italy. In 1850, they set off on their second trip to Italy, this time travelling to the areas around Rome, Naples and Sicily. Flamm extended his journey from 1850-1853 so that our oil study was probably created during this time. The essential creative medium was light, usually in warm tones due to the sunshine. Landscapes became his preferred subject. The focus of our scene is the coastal section, characterized by vegetation marked by drought and heat. The tops of roofs and towers outline the contours of a small village not far from the Mediterranean. Flamm produced numerous studies during this creative period, all of which are united by a sensitive examination of the Italian landscape testifying to his connection to the country and its culture and proving his reputation as a "painter of Italy". 3000
