DAMAGED ITEM-SLEAZY SELLER
I received this item to discover that the canvas was torn. I immediately contacted the seller and initially they ignored my question. They finally responded that they wouldn't do anything about the damage-despite my photographs and documentation. I wasn't even trying to return it, but wanted to have them pay part or all of the repair cost. I then enlisted customer support at LiveAuctioneers and they reviewed the photographs and also tried to contact the seller, to no avail. BEWARE-THIS IS NOT AN ETHICAL VENDOR!!!

At first, shipping was a problem
The in-house preferred shipper was not returning my calls. I called MC and was Immediately given another shipper who did a great job, quickly and for few dollars. KC had a diverse inventory if you are interested in objects from other cultures around the world.

Good pick-up experience

A very trustful company.
I am especially very satisfied with Material Culture's carpet dept. and their expert George Jeveromitch. He is always their for you in all respects. His description of the lots in the catalogue is more exhaustive and helpful than any other auction house that I know of. I have bought and sold through him and his team many times and never was I disappointed with his handling my transactions.

Always good to deal with but ask questions
Have bought many items and been quite happy but neither of these items were what I was hoping for. My own fault for not asking more questions. Material Culture is always very helpful.

Great selection and value and the staff is very professional.

Careful purchasing from this auction house. Received the purchased item and after handling and examination, determined it was a fake/reproduction. It's also a chance one takes when you cannot view the object in person and only rely on photographs. And no point in contacting the auction house as sales are final.

Burnished grey pottery. Size: 8.5 ' x 6.75 ' x 6.75 ' (22 x 17 x 17 cm). Based on our research, we believed this to be accurate. Could we make a mistake? Yes. Good Items, Nice People
I like MC because they have interesting and quirky things often from important collectors who know exactly what the pieces are. I usually go and pay in person so I can say they are really nice people very friendly and helpful.

Becareful purchasing with this company. The piece I received was a fake with dried mud on the bottom. Put there in a attempt to make it look old. A completely worthless item I regret buying!
