Very nice lot of uncommon Borneo beadwork. Other lots were tempting. Glad I read reviews online and went with US Mailroom for the shipping. Sean was great, and everything worked well and speedily.

I had to take a day off from work to pick up my items. MC has ample space to ship but like too many other auctioneers has chosen to shirk the responsibility of shipping onto a second party, This adds a extra layer of risk in both the guardianship of the item (s) and the actual cost of realizing the property from offered lot to actual delivery. Shipping costs need to be known in advance. Auctioneers need to be more involved and responsible in the shipping process.

I won two lots and the private shipping charges were 60 % of the winning bids! That is too high when compared with other auctions.

Items are as described, bidding and payments are easy to make, and shipping agents are very good at packing and sending items in a timely manner.

Honest people and all items as described

I finally received the items today, but mostly of them are visibly not silver, and, as I tested them, not even low grade alloy. (Just 4 of the tiny boxes are silver). Only a couple are of some interest, while the rest is cheap stuff valued too much. Misleading description.

I appreciated the high quality photos on Live Auctioneers, which allowed me to see the rugs in fine detail. I asked for a number of condition reports which I quickly received, including written information about the item and additional photos. I liked that the additional photos which pointed me to any condition areas I might want to be aware of. I felt I was able to be an informed bidder with all of this information, and I had no surprises when the items arrived.

I will put my experience with Material culture in a nut shell: If I run into exactly simailar items at two auction houses with the same prices/estimates, I would always go for the one at Material Culture.

This was my first purchase from Material Culture. They were great and I will definitely purchase from them again!!

Material Culture is the best auction house we have dealt with for many reasons, but their photography is outstanding. Multiple views, back and front with good photos, gives more crucial information than other auction sites that use only one photo. Material Culture has always been responsive to any questions we have had and the answers have always been helpful and to the point. This is our first choice auction site!
