Floating World sets the standard for galleries
They take care at every step, from what they curate, how they care for their acquisitions, and accuracy about provenance and condition. In addition, they handle ‘ small ’ details well. They understand how to pack items with care-they know how to pack items securely, and how to make sure that the package is also easy to open-and how to ensure the artwork is well protected. This particular piece was a lucky find, and I hope to be one of their patrons for decades to come.

Comparing to other auctions, additional charges are high. No choice of international shipping, only UPS.

The only fee we set ourselves is the buyer’s premium at 25 % which is standard for most auction houses. All other fees are set by LiveAuctioneers and out of our control. We ship internationally by any carrier the buyer requests, but they must make the request. We cannot read minds.

Accuracy, helpfulness, and quality packaging
I found Floating World Auctions great people to deal with. They had photographed and described my items accurately, so I received what I expected-no hidden surprises. They were helpful in suggesting my shipping method, and their packaging was superior so that the items were protected from the edges of the package, preventing the bruising which might otherwise occur. Very nice to deal with
Communication was excellent, they helped me with a misunderstanding. I appreciated that a lot. Items were very well packed. They look great and the auction pictures were accurate. My only issue was UPS somehow sent the package elsewhere, and took an extra week to get it to me. But that doesn’t reflect badly on Floating World. UPS just isn’t as good as it used to be.

Very Pleased with Selection/Variety
I always look forward to browsing the listings on Floating World's auctions. I have purchased perhaps two dozen prints from there over the past two years. Always a good variety to peak my interest. Buyer premium of 28 % is quite high-more than most auction houses I have dealt with, but also not the highest. But it does impact my bidding decisions. My only caution (my only negative) is that I wish this seller would consider on a consistent basis clearly stating when a print is a later edition or later printing. When only the original print date is listed in the description, it could easily be misunderstood by a less-informed buyer to be the printing date of the actual print listed for sale. I am more respectful of the galleries who do this-those who provide more information rather than less. This said, I would can still provide an overall positive recommendation for Floating World, and I will continue to purchase from them.

Prints were in poor condition.. very disappointed..
The two prints I received were covered in ripples/waves, one of the prints wasn’t to bad and after matting and framing the waves won’t be that noticeable, however the other print was covered in big waves and ripples as if it was from water/moisture damage and is very noticeable even if matted. The description for the worst of the two prints makes mention of a small smudge in the margins which is completely hidden if matted however the description fails to mention the very prevalent waves in tight groupings across the paper which are very prevalent and obnoxiously deter from the beauty of the print. The other print has some rippling and waves as well however they don’t interfere as much with the image. I’m very disappointed and even feel slightly deceived.

It’s hard to take seriously a buyer so disappointed with his purchases that he pens a one-star review, but not disappointed enough to bother to contact us first. Had he done so, we would have made every effort to understand his concerns and remedy them. The transaction involves two prints from a four-print suite by Tanya Clark. The buyer's sole complaint is that the paper has “big waves and ripples.” We have examined the two prints still in our gallery and there is indeed a slight ripple in their margins, which is the natural state of the paper and exactly how they looked the day they were printed. These "ripples" are plainly visible in the images provided on Liveauctioneers. The buyer speculates that the “damage” may have occurred during shipping, which of course is not our fault, unless he is suggesting we packed his prints negligently, which we know is not the case. Anyone can make a mistake and we will accept responsibility for ours. That didn’t happen here.
