Awful shipping
I purchase dozens of items via live auctioneers every year. The people at this auction house are super nice and professional and the item was described perfectly-but they need a new shipper. I have never had a painting arrive rolled up in a box. I am shocked.

most aspects of the experience was very poor
I paid over $4000 for a set of Georg Jensen Acorn. 1) It was stated in Selkirk's description that the pieces were marked. The knife blades were not marked Georg Jensen. as represented. A carving set was in a different pattern 2) Communication: I contacted the Auction house. Spoke to a Terry and he said I needed to speak to the owner "still waiting" 3) Shipping... The in house shipping kept being delayed and when it did arrive it ha a knife handle sticking through the box. Very poor experience Paul

Good day, Paul. The knife blades are marked Stainless Steel. Our description states "eight (8) dinner knives with stainless blades". You can also very clearly see and read the markings on the blades in our photos. The blades read "Stainless Steel". This is standard for Sterling flatware. Blades on these dinner knives are never Sterling. There was nothing misleading or misrepresented about this in our description or our photos. As for the two (2) out of the ninety-five (95) pieces in the lot that were a different pattern, you can also very clearly see these in our photos had you examined the lot online. Regarding shipping, this is the first we have heard of this and upon reviewing the tracking details of your package, this information is blatantly untrue. We received your check payment in the mail for your invoice on October 28th and we sent you an email confirming this. The package was then taken to the post office and scanned by USPS on November 3rd. That is four (4) business days after we received payment from you. The email we sent to you discussing our in-house shipping process states "We ship items within 10 business days after receiving payment". Please explain how this is delayed shipping. You then received tracking information fromstamps.com that stated your package would arrive within 1-3 business day to which you acknowledged. Your package was then delivered to you on November 6th. On the 3rd day. This is all documented when you review your tracking information so again, please explain how this is delayed shipping. This is the first we've heard of any issues regarding the packaging quality. If there was damage that occurred, that needs to be communicated to us directly so we can address it accordingly. Lastly, as for communication, you called when the owner was out of town and left a review less than 72 hours later. You didn't leave much time at all for the owner to call you back and address your concerns before you left this negative, misleading review.

Terrible in communications and any way of helping a customer. too many conditions for every sale. I have been conducting auctions for the past 10 years and have had the worst experience ever with them. Read Google reviews and other sources. Feedbacks are the same: 1-2 star reviews.

Max, it's quite surprising to see this review. You reached out to us on 2 separate occasions. Once after our office hours on January 15th, to which we responded less than an hour after our office opened on January 16th. And again, on February 10th, to which we responded in less than an hour. Neither of these conversations indicated that you were unhappy or unsatisfied with the service we provided. You paid your invoice in a timely manner, and arranged for shipping in a timely manner as well. Again, it's quite surprising to see this review as we have heard nothing from you in this sense. We were very clear in our communication and instructions to assist you to the very best of our ability and did so in a timely manner. We feel that our conditions of sale, which you agree to when registering to bid with us, are very straight forward, and we are very communicative and open about these conditions. Had you not been happy with or wanted to comply with these conditions, you should not of bid in our auction. If you could send us an email letting us know what prompted you to leave us this negative review, and what made you feel this is your worst experience, we would love to hear from you. **********

Be careful with this one
These auctioneers knowingly stage photographs in a way to intentionally misrepresent the condition of items. Then they hide behind their terms to avoid claims. They show images of an item that appeared to be intact, but was actually staged to hide a broken part that was critical to the working condition of the item. Then they try and blame the shipper. Don’t trust them.

Gary, We let you know the steps we recommended you take in our message correspondence last week and it appears that you did not reach out to the shipping company, as we advised. Photos are not "staged" to hide any condition issues. Any condition issues that a lot may have, our wonderful photographers take close up images of and include them in our online cataloging. We take pride in being very transparent in our photos, cataloging, AND whenever a condition report is requested, which, you did not request a condition report or any additional photos prior to the auction. Again, as stated in our correspondence, we recommend reaching out to the shipper you utilized.

First Time On-line Auction House
I have been an active collector for over thirty years. After all this time, I had never taken part in a live on-line auction. There was an item on auction with Selkirk that I really wanted for my collection and signed up under liveauctioneers, easy. I sat through the entire auction as my interest was near the end. I enjoyed the experience and was ready when the lot came up. I won that and one earlier lot. The shipping process was made easy by Selkirk and PakMail staff through phone and email. My main learning experience is that if money is an issue and shipping is a necessity, especially if you bid on a large and/or delicate item (s), then take note to bid accordingly, as you may have an expensive shipping/handling bill added to your purchase dollar. In other words, try not to get carried away in the moment. Based on my lots dollar purchase, no bidding wars, I was able to be comfortable and absorb the shipping cost for the 'worth' of my purchased lots. I would join in another Selkirk auction, well done, and thanks for a positive first experience!
