Art/Frame described as "EXCELLENT" was in fact "POOR"
I have bid and won many framed and unframed art pieces through Liveauctioneers. The listing in question should have been a no-brainer, inasmuch as it was described as in "EXCELLENT" condition. Based on this description, I paid $107 for purchase and shipping. Had it not been described this way, I would have asked about the condition of the frame and, if appropriate, requested that they just ship the print in a rolled tube to save on shipping costs. I received the piece and found that the frame was pitted along the entire top of the frame, had noticeable scratches on the sides and that two corners were pulled apart. Opening it up, the print had noticeable color that had bled from the mat onto the white margins of the print. I contacted the seller with photos and they offered me $20 back for the price of the print. Nothing towards the shipping. I think writing an honest review is more important than getting $20 back. I have never had a Liveauctioneer seller misrepresent the condition of an item so egregiously. If you can't rely that an assessment of condition is at least in the "ballpark," how can you buy sight unseen?

Hi Susan we offered a full refund of the item which is the $20 plus BP and you wouldn’t need to return the item. Essentially getting a free item and Us losing a merchandise. The shipping is a separate transaction and the item was shipped. As a business we can only refund for the item purchased. I believe that was a fair solution.

Figurine arrived
The Lladr ó figurine was as described and the packing was excellent. It arrived in excellent condition. Shipping cost was reasonable. I’m very pleased with my experience at Miami Auctions.

Item as described; when contacted, they were helpful. Shipping involved a third party; in turn that firm was helpful as well... but it added delay and additional contact to work. Auction house worked well.

Excessive Shipping Charges/Item description
I bought a small water color painting. I assumed it was framed, but it was not. It did not say anything about being framed, so that’s on me. However, their writes-ups are sorely lacking in generally accepted descriptions of art work, especially paintings. Let’s try to improve this MAA. Also, I’m amazed that overcharging for shipping has not been addressed at the Live Auctioneers level. LA is difficult to get on the phone. Typically, art pieces are sent to shipping stores that may or may not have a relationship with the auction house. It is my opinion that UPS stores charge excessive amounts for shipping. Really quite unreasonable and time that people started speaking up. Also, if you pay by AMEX and feel you’ve been ripped off, AMEX will refund you the amount and take it up with the UPS Store. MAA does have nice stuff. Their leadership just needs to step up in quality control and after-sale procedures.

Hi Brendan, We apologize for how you felt in this process. Regarding the description of the items we encourage all customers to ask us questions before they make a bid. We don't want anyone to be disappointed with the item that they purchase. The item was sold as is in the description that was given. Thank you for recognizing that in your statement. We can attempt to do better in adding more to the description. In every auction description, I clearly state that we work with UPS store 6701 and how the process work. Which we did in a efficient time frame regarding this piece. Below I attached the description. It is in your right not to make a bid for an item if you are not happy with this style of shipping. You can also ask us other forms of shipping that you wish the item to be shipped before we give it to UPS. We don't want anyone to feel like we are taking advantage of them. We try to be as accommodating as possible. The reason why we do UPS shipping partner, is we don't want clients to believe that we are charging more to make a profit or we under or over estimate. We do not get one dollar for these UPS shipping. I believe it's unfair to leave a negative review for the price on shipping which we have no control over. We sold the item as described, we alerted when the item was picked up in a efficient time frame, and did not charge you shipping for you not feel that we are taking advantage. We will love for you to return for future purchases Here is the auction description below Please note smaller items will be invoiced with shipping included and larger items will be picked up by our friends at the UPS store. All paintings will be picked up by UPS no matter the size or unless otherwise stated. Our UPS shipping partner (UPS STORE 6701) will invoice and handle shipping cost and arrangement. Once your item is picked up you will get notified by us via Live Auctioneer Messages.

The piece had a tear in the canvas that was not denoted in the description
When there is a major flaw to a collectible; auction houses should reference the defect especially when purchasing on line. Not pleased with this auction house.

Amazing Listings, Great Service

Find your own shipper.
The preferred shipper has no clue how to handle or ship fine art. It was a screen print that should have been shipped flat but they rolled it up but the paper was too thick and several creases caused losses. I sent a nice email to the auction house suggesting FYI they might reconsider their shipper who ruined the piece and I also provided pictures. To this day a week later I haven’t heard a word, no thank you for the information, sorry this happened or eff you no response at all. Makes me think they don’t care.
