They sent me a fake print made to look authentic. When I called and spoke with Meagan she was very nice and sent me a return label. I returned the print, have the tracking that was signed by them, and never received a refund. They will not email back, and the phone has been disconnected. Now what will Live Auctioneers do about this? It was on their website and invoiced through their company?

I won the lot “Piotr Uklanski, Untitled (skull)” from Boca Estate Auction LLC on LiveAuctioneers. The listing clearly stated “Signed and dated” and gave the size as 14 × 11 in (approx. 35 × 28 cm), which strongly suggests a specific, recognized edition. When the shipment arrived, it was immediately obvious the item was NOT as described. The print I received is NOT signed and NOT dated — there is no artist signature or date anywhere on the sheet. The dimensions are also wrong: the actual size is about 23.5 × 30.5 cm (approx. 9.25 × 12 in), significantly different from the listing. This is not a minor discrepancy — signature/date and correct format are essential for authenticity and value. I filed a complaint right away and requested a return and full refund. I sent the item back via registered mail (RR ********** PL), but the auction house did not accept/collect the return. USPS tracking shows “Unclaimed/Being Returned to Sender.” Despite clear evidence (photos, measurements, tracking), they refused my claim and rejected the return. As a result, I’m left with the problem and the costs. Be careful — the description did not match what was shipped, and then they avoided responsibility. I am escalating this with the platform and through my payment provider dispute process.

Very disappointed to receive replicas of Julie Blackmon photos. I have confirmed with a certified gallery. This seems to be a common theme on this site. This unfortunately, isn’t the first time I’ve been duped.

I purchased a vintage travel poster and when it arrived it turned out to be an obvious fake. The photos and description were purposefully deceiving, claiming it was mounted on linen, when the linen mounting was done poorly, obviously to make the poster look like a vintage piece. The image itself is some kind of photocopy with the inks being unstable and easy to smudge. It is obvious as soon as you look at it that is is a purposeful fake. Also, I accidentally hit the bid button with my coffee cup and bid on a second "art" item in the auction. I tried to retract the bid immediately, but the auction item closed before I could make progress. I "won" the item and then tried to communicate with the auction house to resolve the mistake. There was no progress made and I was forced to pay the invoice. The item was also not a legitimate piece. It was a later invaluable lithographic reprint. The auction cost me more than $500 for two "fakes" with commissions and shipping. I take responsibility for the mis-bid, but I can assure you I won't be buying from this auction house again. Two items for the trash can...

I recieved the package 2 items low quality nothing compared to the pictures. I reached Meagan who was nice on the emails initially and sent me a return label I did send it back and they recieved the items. However they never refunded me. So no items and no money. I sent over 15 emails and they never reply. DONT BUY FROM THEM.

Unlike the washi paper used for Hasui's woodblock prints, the paper used for this print is extremely thin and lacks the publisher's stamp. It is likely that they are either forged or unauthorised test prints. The seller is conducting the auction without disclosing this information and presenting the prints as authentic. Furthermore, the seller refuses requests to combine shipping for multiple items. During negotiations, the shipping costs repeatedly changed and increased without any clear explanation being given. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU BID ON THIS SELLER'S AUCTIONS!!!

The photo in the listing showed a signature that looked like Thiebaud. The item I got had a different signature that absolutley was not Thiebauds signature. They said they would refund my cost and shipping and laid blame on the "consignor" They used a misleading photo to try and sell a fake. Whether they claim they knew or not they should have......... Beware

I purchased my item using the Make an Offer feature and the team at Boca Estate Auction handled my request right away! Customer service was excellent and they made the purchasing process super easy. I recommend the self arranged shipping-their auction house provided me a way cheaper quote for shipping and within a few days I got a tracking number and my package was here before I even knew it! They did a great job packing my order making sure there wasn’t any room for damage. I am so happy with my item it’s a beautiful piece. Will definitely be keeping my eye on the next sale! It is partially my own fault being too trustworthy with auction houses. print is clearly a forgery and NOT as described … a givaway is the actual stamp on the back that was shown (that why i say it is partially my own fault …) it says 1981 but the print was made in 1985 … also it clearly is not as described an estate stamp but a fake publisher stamp … furthermore it does not have a blindstamp on the left side … the description also states heavy wove paper.. clearly it is board and not wove paper. nice people but they have no clue what they are selling or it is deliberately described to deceive in order to get bids … signed and numbered … it is numbered 70 of 100 … however the edition was only 60 … there is also smudges on the numbers … someone wasn’t sure which fake numbers to write on there …. the piece is complete garbage and a lot of money waisted! Never again! You have been warned!

I had a terrible experience with this auction house. They listed items with blatantly and purposely inaccurate descriptions to deceive buyers, passing off modern reprints as offset lithographs or screen prints. I purchased several items, only to discover it was unauthorized reprints with no provenance. When confronted, their customer service dodged responsibility and refused to refund me, saying that the fraudulent items I sent back arrived damaged without providing any evidence of that. STAY AWAY.

After repeated attempts to contact this house I am resorting to writing this review. The item sold was in no way as described, and was in fact a cheap reproduction make to look genuine. It would be laughable if it weren't so disturbing that a "supposedly" serious house would engage in such deceptions. Buyer beware, these people are not to be trusted.

Misdescribed print, refund refused. Avoid buying with them. Myself and many others in the reviews, specifically with prints, have all had the same issue.

I had a great experience working with the Boca Team. They had detailed responses for my questions and replied in a timely manner. When I received my piece it was packaged nicely and arrived quickly. The item I ordered was beautiful and exactly as described. I will definitely be following their next auctions!!

I decided to trust this auction house because I like to believe that perhaps some people are wrong and haven't taken a chance with them but I was proven wrong. While not outright scamming they use vague language so that they can't get in trouble, the print is painfully fake in person. As someone who collects prints its obvious that it was not real, the lack of keyblock lines entirely and the flat look of the print tells me all I need to know that this print is fake. Furthermore the only thing real in this is the seal as the ink bled through, everything else is unrealistically perfect. It was probably a copy of a real print and pasted on paper, speaking of the paper the paper was fuzzy which never happens and on top of that it was too thin and crumbles easily. Woodblock Prints use a special type of paper that was not used here, it's hard to tell unless you see it in person. I hope I could get a refund but the vague language used in the description is there for a reason and it won't probably let me get a refund. But I want to put my review out to tell people not to buy things from this auction house as they are downright scamming collectors.

I am a professional collector of Japanese woodblock prints. This print’s paper does not match that used in Showa-era woodblock prints, and it is clearly an inkjet reproduction rather than a traditional woodblock print. Furthermore, I have concerns about the auction house’s practices. They do not allow advance bids to be retracted, and my winning bid for this Kawase Hasui print was exactly my advance bid of $390. In my extensive auction experience, it is highly unusual for a non-round pre-bid amount like $390 to win, raising suspicions of manipulation.

This auctioneer sells photocopies of art as real-with high estimates and false descriptions. Especially Japanese art prints have been copied. No diginity, no shame... Be aware: if you give them opportunity to charge your card, it may be a long struggle to get the money back.

The prints I won were never sent, and indeed, I now believe that Boca Estate Auction never were in possession of them. They intend rather to defraud me. After four weeks without any concrete shipping information, I contacted them and received a series of excuses over the course of more than a week:-They first said that they were waiting on packing materials-for flat prints of a standard size?-Then they said that they didn't know how to select the right shipping insurance-though insurance is always by the value of the item, if it's allowed to be shipped!-After that, they said that they needed to talk more with the shipping company because it doesn't have a contact phone number-what kind of logistics company is like that? Finally, after all the delaying tactics, they claimed to have sent the items only when I asked for a refund. But the FedEx tracking number provided showed that no items were or have been collected by FedEx. After pointing this out and reiterating my request for a refund, they stopped responding to my emails. That was a month ago. They've had many chances to rectify the situation, and I would have been satisfied if they had simply offered a refund, but it seems that rather than do the right thing, they'd prefer to take my money and run.

What was described by Boca Estate:-Australia Poster-Measurements 92 x 61 cm-Linen backed-Good condition-Reserve $200-$400 What I received:-Reproduction Poster-Actual Measurements 77 x 55cm-Backed on a piece of Cotton. This process was to the create a perception of the poster being old-Creases all the way up the middle of the poster Attempted to receive a refund via Liveauctioneers. As the poster was forwarded using a third party shipper, seller stating that the poster was as described when they sent it. May be more believable if the 5 other reviews this year weren’t all saying the same. Worst part is, Liveauctioneers seem to be accepting of this behaviour.

I contacted the auction house prior to the auction to inquire about the originality of a poster and the auction house said they couldn't confirm. The poster arrived and it was clearly a reproduction. When I contacted the auction house they said I should have known it was a reproduction because of the price I paid. Absolutely dishonest. Save your money.

The print that I purchased was crimped during shipping process. Packaging of print was negligent and poorly packed. Worst protective packing and shipment that I have ever seen or experienced. If Boca Auction is going to sell art prints, their shipment and packing is unacceptable.

I bought two prints from Boca Estate Auctions. The prints were garbage. Not only was the surface of the prints scuffed, the “plate signed signatures” are nearly illegible and appear to be just a low resolution digital file they are mass producing without QC. Not a quality print we will hang.

On 12/1/24 I won a Print. It has been almost 7 weeks. I haven't received my print. Initially they were responsive & kept promising it would be sent. It has not. On the 12/31 a shipping label was created. I was told it would be shipped the following day. Post office never got it & said to contact courier/auction house. They did NOT respond to email or phone calls. Asked Live Auction for help. They reached out to Boca Estate Auction. BEA said it would be sent & offered $50 credit toward my next auction. Still have not sent item. Not responding to my inquiry. Are they kidding me?! Forget a credit toward future. I am out a lot of money. Do NOT trust this auction house.

If shipment of large items, may be best to arrange your own packaging and handling.
