Beware, this vendor hides behind the disclaimer that descriptions are “an expression of opinion only”. I bought what was called a silver gelatin photograph, when in fact it was a page cut out of a book. With a fake signature. There is no recourse, no legal action I can take, but I can express how terrible these people are, and how they should be banned from doing business. Please do not but anything from them.

The opportunity to own this artifact, the ease with which it was purchased and ownership transferred was amazing. Oldstone Ventures kept me updated on the progress of the item during shipping and packaged the item with care. I didn't have to do very much after the auction. It was a pleasure.

I purchased two lots from Oldstone. One of which was a supposedly original Yves Klein painting in the Ant series. I brought it to an appraiser who said it is almost certainly a forgery. They then referred me to a gallery owner at Bergamot Station in Santa Monica/LA. When I brought it to him, he laughed immediately and said it was an obvious fake. He said they used an old frame and painted over whatever was on it. The gallery stickers on back were printed and not original. The signature wouldn't have been so prominent on the front. Even I was able to figure that out with my limited knowledge. He left me with the advice that, if it's too good to be true, it is. You can see many examples of too-good-to-be-true works of art in Oldstone auctions. They aren't aren't Christie's. This auction house should have known better if they weren't complicit themselves. This piece would have been worth close to $1M if real. Obviously it's not when someone is selling it for $1k. I would not trust anything this auction house sells to be legitimate. Their address is a self-storage facility in NJ Their phone number is also associated with another auction house in London on this platform with 0 reviews I have no faith the other lot I purchased is real.
