Since 1911 Schmidt's has been instrumental in uniting buyers and sellers of Antiques and Art through the process known as Auctions.
Buyers can bid with the confidence afforded through our accurate, honest descriptions and meticulous condition reports along with high resolution photography of any item we sell. Bidding can be executed live in-house, online simultaneously or through the Liveauctioneers absentee system, live over the phone or through our own in-house absentee bidding system.
We also assist buyers in local and worldwide shipping arraignments of purchases and even drop off small items at the local UPS Store so buyers can avoid additional pick-up charges.

This antique gallery is one of the very BEST in the USA. When it comes to antique clocks Schmidt's of Ypsilanti is one of the MOST TRUSTED in the entire USA. Their auction items have provenance, are sound quality, are time tested antiques of an era gone by. For us clock collectors-Chuck Schmidt is our go-to guy.

My most recent transaction with Schmidt's went very well, just like all the other transactions over the years. My parents first took me to Schmidt's several decades ago, and I look forward to their auctions very much.

5 Star Auction House!
I have purchased artwork through Schmidt's before (floor purchases and auction). They are always honest in their descriptions of what you wish to purchase, will answer any questions and make the billing process easy. I live in the area, so I have not had to utilize the shipping process, and unable to comment.

Rare Print
Rare Double Oban Shiro Kasamatsu print. Normally retails for about $2500. It was obvious to me that bidders were scared away due to the abundance of dried glue surrounding the print and also smeared on the margins. Also, no one knew if the print was also glued to a backing with the same type of dried rubber cement. Due to these issues, I was the only bidder at $150 + BP + shipping. When I got the print I was totally shocked that the print was NOT glued to a backing. So, all I had to deal with was the dried glue on 3 of the margins. I used pure laboratory grade acetone and began slowly wiping the glue off the margins with a cotton ball soaked in acetone. It took a day or so along with a follow up of Hydrogen Peroxide to bleach out the stains left behind by the glue. Then into a bath of Calcium Hydroxide to completely de-acidify the print. It now looks brand new! So, a super bargain that I am most proud to now have in my Shiro Kasamatsu Collection.

Uncommonly Helpful!!!
I was having difficulty with the label for the post office for the shipping of my item I called and was so graciously helped. The lady that I spoke to was so kind. When I stated my problem to her, her response was no worries, I will take care of this for you. I know that the post office shipping can be confusing and I will be happy to handle it. She made me feel like I was family, like I was her favorite sister or cousin and nothing was too much to ask. I was so impressed and I was so grateful because I had been so stressed out stumbling through the process and not being able to figure it out. She gladly took that burden off of me and I was truly thankful. I was shocked when I received my package in just a couple of days and when I opened it up, purchase was more beautiful than it was on the auction site. I am looking forward to dealing with this auction house in the future, thank you again so much. Letha.
