Art Nouveau is more than just an ornamental style. It began as a way of thinking about modern society and an attempt to redefine the meaning of works of art. Art Nouveau prevailed throughout Europe and the United States between 1890 and 1910. Examples of this decorative style can be found in sculptures, paintings, architecture, jewelry, furniture, textiles and even household items. The features that make this style unique are the emphasis on free and asymmetrical lines, the intricate patterns and the strong decorative elements. Art Nouveau drew inspiration from both natural and geometric forms to create elegant flowing designs that resembled stems, vines, tendrils, blossoms, flowers, wavy birds, spiral lines, and human figures, mainly women. Also, the influence of the Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints on the ev
