Busts
Busts are sculptural portraits usually made of marble, bronze, plaster, terracotta, wood or stone modeled into different shapes. Evidence showcases that the first busts were sculpted in ancient Egypt around 1345 B.C, such as the famous Bust of Nefertiti. Through the years, busts were associated with the Hellenistic and Roman periods, depicting either idealized or realistic human forms. During the Renaissance busts were delicately carved and meticulously designed with soft naturalistic lines and exceptional elegance. Busts are recognized as coveted works of art with an ageless appeal that can bring incredible detail to any space. Sculptural ancient masterpieces representing remarkable leaders at their time have adorned the houses of many museums and collectors. The reason why portrait busts are so valuable pieces is that they exude an air of aristocracy.
