GRADING
Standards for Toy Train and related accessory items apply to the VISUAL appearance of the item and do NOT consider the functionality of the equipment (see rules page as well)
Condition and grading standards are subjective, at best, and are intended as a guide.
C10- Mint Brand New: all original, unused and unblemished, factory sealed items
C9- Factory Brand New: all original, unused, may have evidence factory rubs and the slightest evidence of handling, shipping or have been test run at the factory.
C8- Like New: complete all original, no rust or missing parts, may show effects of being on display and/or age, may have been run Lightly
C7- Excellent: all original, minute scratches and/or paint nicks, no rust or missing parts, no distortion of component parts.
C6- Very Good: Minor scratches and/or paint nicks, minor spots of surface rust(oxi), May have evidence of heavy use.
C5- Good sign of play wear: with scratches and minor paint loss, small dents, minor surface rust, evidence of heavy use;
C4- Fair: Scratched: moderate paint loss, dented, missing parts, surface rust, evidence of heavy use.
C3- Poor- requires major body repair, heavily scratched, major rust(scale), missing multiple parts, restoration candidate
C2-1 Really Bad!
Factory touch-up: obvious minor over paint done at factory
Pro Touch-up: less than 10% restorative work, done in a seamless or nearly seamless level
Restored - Original trains that have been professionally or semi professionally refinished to approximate the original finish, color and graphics(lettering and Logos), may have reproduction small parts
Repainted- May include poor restoration attempts, incorrect or custom color, poor texture, bodywork or graphics
PLEASE NOTE: The grade(C#) describes the external paint or finish of a piece ONLY! Damage, decals, repro or missing parts, oxidation and run-time will be noted in-addition to the grade of the finish. Condition of original boxes are NOT included in the grading.

A) All bidders are required to read and understand these rules before bidding.
RULE #1. All items offered for public auction are always sold as-is where-is. There is no implied warrantee of opperation on any item offered. Clockwork toys will be tested if a suitable key is available, but no warrantee is implied on their operation or longevity. Items are described for convenience only, NETTE is not responsible for errors or omissions in catalogs, ads or Auction lists. Errors made as a result of sloppy or incorrectly filled out bid forms are the responsibility of the bidder.
RULE #2. Buyer understands and agrees that registering and bidding at an NETTE auction obligates that buyer to accept and pay for any and all lots hammered down to his/her bidder number as a result of his submitting an online bid. Discrepancies, re-auctioning and all disputes are settled at the auctioneers discretion after the sale is completed.
RULE #3. Attending bidders agree that all items purchased are to be payed for in full on the day of auction. Personal checks must be cleared with the auctioneer prior to auction day. Out-of-State buyers must pay by cash or credit card unless other arrangements have been made previous to auction day. The auctioneer reserves the right to hold any purchases made by personal check until such check has been cleared by our bank.
RULE #4. All attending buyers agree to pay a 6% Connecticut Sales tax on all purchases unless an official Connecticut Resale certificate has been filled out using a valid resale number from any US state. Tax certificates have to be presented at the auctioneers discretion. Bidders can only use resale numbers registered to them or their company. Brokers must have their own Tax number and accept the full responsibility for the conditions of the items they purchase.
RULE #5. Mail, Fax, Internet, Phone and Left bids are accepted; phone bids with prior arrangement agreed upon by the auctioneer. Purchases made by these methods, must have a credit card back-up and payment received by NETTE with-in 20 days from the sale date or buyer agrees to allow NETTE to charge the credit card for all purchases. Shipping and packing charges are calculated the week following the auction. No items will be shipped before full payment is received by NETTE. UPS is our prefered shipper, so please no PO box addresses. Requests for USPS or FedX may delay your shippment. Shipping charges include a $15 per box charge plus the cost of Shipping and insurance(unless noted otherwise in the catalog or internet listings). Damage claims are rare at NETTE, but if they happen, we will refund/settle only when and if the carrier reimbursses NETTE. This can take from 6-8 weeks.
Returns are allowed ONLY if a gross description error has been made in the catalog or on the internet site. The auctioneer is the sole judge for any returns. These issues MUST be brought to our attention no later than 29 days after the auction date. Late paying bidders agree to give up the right of returns for any reasons.
RULE #6. There is a 10% buyers premium that will be added to all auction purchases. Acceptable payments include: Cash, Checks(with prior approval), Traveler's checks, money orders. Credit cards(Mastercard,Visa & American Express) are accepted for catalog purchases ONLY. Special arrangements can be made to use credit cards for auction purchases, Please call 203 730-1404 no later than four days prior to auction date.
B) Online bidding
There is no pre registration necessary.
Simply go to the site and click on View auction lots. To view a photo, click on the lot number. To bid, click on the bid button. A page will come up in a seperate window. Fill the top out completely and scroll down to enter bids. Move the window to the side so you can go through the auction list as-well. When you are finished or the page is full, click submit and your bids are sent to us and a copy to your email address.
To change, add or update your bids, resubmit a new form. We use the most recent form submitted. Please keep changes to a minimum. Please note; We do not accept mail bids below $50.
