COUTURE, HISTORIC & VINTAGE CLOTHING AUCTION

Rare historic and vintage clothing from museum & institutional collections will be auctioned at Augusta Auctions, 46th specialty auction event. Lovers of historic textiles and vintage clothing have been planning their 2017 pilgrimage to the Sturbridge, Massachusetts auction venue since last year's sales ended. Collections offered at the Tuesday & Wednesday sales include treasures representing four centuries of fashion history. These treasures originated from the closets and backrooms of many prestigious institutions. Consigner institutions include Museum of the City of New York, Weathersfield Historical Society (VT), Memorial Art Gallery (NY) the University of Maryland Historic Clothing Collection, the Strong Museum (NY), Durham Historical Association (NH), the American Textile History Museum (MA),and more than two dozen other institutions, estates and private collections. Proceeds from this sale help to provide financial support earmarked for the preservation and maintenance of museums permanent collections. The catalogued lots are open for preview at NOON on Tuesday May 9th with the sale starting at 3PM. Many of the clothing, lace, trim and textile lots in Tuesday's 400-lot catalog sale have been grouped into large lots geared to collectors, vintage store owners and lovers of rare and beautiful vintage clothing & historic textiles.
