The September 13 Doyle at Home auction features a wide selection of quality American, English and Continental furnishings and art with moderate pre-sale estimates. A special section of the sale will be devoted to furniture, decorations and fine art of the 20th century. Highlighting the Modern and Contemporary furniture is a walnut 'Free Edge' cabinet by George Nakashima (lot 196). Also offered will be an 'Omnibus' armless sofa with Lucite base by Vladimir Kagan (lot 173A), a set of six chairs by Norman Cherner (lot 277), and a glass top and sculpted metal coffee table by Paul Evans (lot 240). Other prominent designers represented in the sale include Warren Plattner, Hans Wegner, Michael and Frances Higgins, Jens H. Quistgaard, Eileen Gray, Warren McArthur, Eero Saarinen, and Charles and Ray Eames.
