Treadway/Toomey Galleries are pleased to present their 20th Century Art & Design auction held on Sunday December 3rd at the John Toomey Gallery located in Oak Park (a Chicago suburb), at 818 North Blvd, phone # 708.383.5234. This important three session sale contains over 1100 lots. The first session contains important items in Arts and Crafts, Art Nouveau and Art Deco, including furniture, from Gustav Stickley, Limbert and Frank Lloyd Wright with highlights being a rare Gustav Stickley piano bench and an early crib form settle. There are several fine pieces of furniture by such designers as Roycroft, Lifetime, Harden, L & JG Stickley. A large selection of American and European ceramics, such as Teco, Rookwood, SEG, Newcomb, Marblehead, Grueby, some fine examples of George Ohr, Fulper, Clewell and others. Several lamps will be offered including Tiffany, Handel, Pairpoint, Stickley, Duffner, Benedict Studios, Oscar Bach. A highlight of the sale will be a wonderful Tiffany Studios stained glass window, as well as other art glass by Tiffany, Gallé, Daum and others. The second session will include Fine Arts and Paintings featuring several works by such artists as Birger Sandzen, Homer Davisson, Varialdo Cariani, Leota Loop, Carl Krafft, George Aid, Dorothy Bartholemy, Mitchell Siporin, Andy Warhol and many other examples by American and European artists. The third session consists of Mid Century-Modern by such designers as Geroge Nelson, Eames, Walter Lamb, Paul Evans, Ettore Sottsass, Saarinen, Ed Wormely, Gilbert Rohde, Kittinger, Thaden, and others.
