Our Spring 2018 auction features a number of exciting stoneware and redware objects from the Southern, Midwestern, and Northeastern U.S., including many museum-quality examples. Among these are a newly-discovered Anna Pottery masterwork, a selection of outstanding New York State stoneware pieces, face vessels from North and South Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama, and a legendary folk sculpture from the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, returning to the auction block after fifteen years. Rounding out the sale are over 450 lots of 19th century American stoneware and redware from a variety of collecting regions, including early Northeastern stoneware, rare Southern redware and stoneware, and a large selection of Western Pennsylvania and West Virginia stoneware pieces, led by fine examples from the Greensboro and New Geneva, PA potting tradition. Our auctions are held at our historic gallery--the 1841 Gorsuch Barn--in northern Baltimore County, Maryland. Our previews are held the Friday before each auction from 1-6pm; our auctions begin at 10am on Saturday (in this case, March 24) with doors opening at 8, and feature complimentary food and beverages--all are welcome!
