The Collection of Tim Hunt & Tama Janowitz

This auction exclusively contains the Collection of Tim Hunt & Tama Janowitz Tim Hunt was the Curator for the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visal Arts for more than 20 years and the handsome younger brother of the racing driver, James Hunt. Tim had a love for tribal art and started working for Christies in London (1980-1986) prior to working for the Andy Warhol Foundation. He was always around art and met many artists over the years. This is evident in the wonderful cross-section of art and artists represented in this collection. Tim married Tama Janowitz, the bestselling author of Slaves of New York, and they became a ubiquitous A-List couple, "team Tim and Tam." They also adopted a much-adored daughter, Willow, from China. Long before they met, Tama hung out with Andy Warhol and was an integral part of the NYC "scene" in the 1980's. We, Andy Rose & Dominikija Prostak, owners of Goldfinch Auctions, had the pleasure of getting to know Tama and her daughter Willow when inventorying and transporting the contents of their Brooklyn penthouse to the auction house in Flemington, NJ. We want to thank Tama for asking and entrusting us to handle the sale of over 450 lots of art and personal property.
