This auction includes properties from the Danskammer-Armstrong mansion, a legendary part of Roseton, NY brick industry history. Today , one can get a glimpse of what the mansion looked like by visiting The Storm King Art Center in Mountainville, NY near our gallery as five of the granite columns from the mansion are incorporated into the landscape. See Brick Collecting.com for more history about the history of Roseton and Danskammer Point, NY (also just N. of our gallery). Properties from the mansion in this auction include a set of ten Smith Ely American birdseye maple chairs with shapely "kismos" backs and cane seats, all signed. New York City. C. 1830. Smith Ely was a turner, chair maker and merchant with a shop at Broad and Ne Streets from 1823-1837. Also featured from the mansion is a 19th C. French Louis XV rococo serpentine shaped giltwood and gessoed carved console table. Nemethy family paintings are in this auction with Albert Sr. , George and Georgina as well as Kristina represented. A pr. of Paolette Fratelli shrine icons, one with the original label at the back are featured. The sale contains 90 examples of Audubons, Wilson and Gould (90) continuing our sale of The Cerniglia Collection. And, paintings by Cincone, Albert Pels, Tsar, Wallauer, Gardonyi; Albert Wasserman, Jack Brusca , Cherrie and so many others. American illustrations (60) by M. Cooper from The Charles Martignette Collection of American Illustration.
