Bruneau & Co. Auctioneers is proud to announce our Thanksgiving Holiday Weekend antiques and fine art estate auction taking place Saturday, November 24 at 11:00am. The auction will feature over 450 lots from estates across New England including a selection of over 150 lots of fine jewelry and sterling silver. The catalog contains over 75 original works of art highlighted by a Franz Kline (1910-1962) oil on board landscape painting titled “Sunny Afternoon”. Other fine art highlights include an oil on canvas portrait painting of World War I French general Marshal Joseph Joffre by George Luks (1867-1933), a portrait painting of a gentleman by Nicola Marschall (1829-1917), and a selection of three abstract expressionist crayon drawings by Taro Yamamoto (1919-1994). Also, within the fine art selection are three paintings by Swiss modernist Albert Chavaz (1907-1990) including a hunting game still life, and nocturnal landscape. The catalog will also offer a large body of artwork deaccessioned from the deCordova Museum and Sculpture Park in Lincoln, Massachusetts. Decorative arts offerings include an array of furniture, art glass, sculpture, sterling silver, collectibles, and folk art highlighted by a pair of Leonard Wyburd Arts & Crafts Thebes stools. Other decorative art highlights include a 19th century American ship’s woolie embroidered textile, a large double flame Murano art glass sculpture by Adriano Valentina (b.1945), and an early 19th century Ethan Allen type gilt copper and zinc weathervane. The catalog will also offer an array of Asian arts including porcelain, wood carvings, and several jades highlighted by a Kanxi baluster form scenic vase and fine Qing Dynasty celadon white jade plaque of storks. Preview will be held Wednesday, November 21st 9:00 to 5:00 and Friday, November 23rd 9:00 to 5:00. Doors open 8:00am day of sale.
